Tilt-Shift Photography

Apparently there's a type of photgraphy called Tilt-Shift. You use a special lens, tilt it, and use a wide aperture. The result is an image that looks like the objects are miniature. (I only sort of understand how that works.) Here's an example from Google images:

But online you can create a tilt-shift effect in your existing photos. Here are some that I tried. I don't think they look miniature, but there still cool. The before photos are the small ones, and the large ones are the afters. The first is The Grand Canyon (obviously); I tried a wide focus and a narrow focus. Next is Charring Cross Station in London, taken from the London Eye. Then Stonehenge. Then a tree in Wimbledon Commons.
